What’s involved in Made to Measure? Most Brides will plan their Wedding Dress 6 to 12 months in advance of their wedding day. As all gowns are personally designed and made by Hilary Jane, bookings are limited to 20-30 per year. In the high season months of July and August booking slots are frequently taken well in advance. For other times of year and for evening and occasion wear it is always wise to telephone as late bookings are sometimes possible.
	The first step in the made to measure process is the initial consultation when you can view and try on sample dresses and feel the quality of a hand crafted couture gown. Bring along your magazine cuttings, or your sketches of design features you would like to incorporate into your dream Wedding dress, then describe your venue and plans. for the day so that Hilary Jane can ensure your gown is suited to you, to your figure and to your event. To compliment the design, Hilary Jane is able to offer many hundreds of finest quality silk samples from which to choose. Once you have decided to commission a bespoke design, detailed measurements are taken to enable the drafting of your personal pattern block from which a toile or mock-up of your gown is made in calico or other fabric suited to your design.Using the toile fitting changes are made and the design is adjusted for a perfect line – for example the neckline, skirt shape, train length, shoulder or collar may be re-shaped following the toile fittings. Toiles progress from stage 1 - basic block shapes, through stage 2 dress design. In certain instances several toiles may be worked to confirm the fit and shape.
In parallel, beading or embroidery samples will be worked on your chosen fabric to illustrate the intended design. Once the toile is complete, the embellishments will be normally worked on a frame before the fabric is cut. Fabric fittings will then progress. Expect a total of around 6 fittings from measurements to final delivery of your gown. Throughout you must bring the foundation garment to be worn with your Bridal gown (unless you have chosen a made to measure couture corset which is a foundation garment in its own right) and shoes chosen for your outfit to each fitting. Made to Measure Wedding Dresses

As all Wedding gowns are personally designed and made to order by Hilary Jane, clients are asked to allow for about 6 fittings (measurement, toile 1 and 2, fabric fitting 1 & 2, and final consultation and delivery). The process will usually begin 3 or 4 months before your Wedding Day for delivery of your Bridal Gown 2-4 weeks before the date.
